The Votes Are In. What Comes Next for the Travel Tech Industry?

November 4, 2026

A message from Laura Chadwick, President & CEO

Last night’s elections reshaped the political landscape in Washington and in state capitals across the country. While some races are still being finalized, one thing is already clear: travel technology companies should expect an active policy environment in 2027.

Issues including artificial intelligence, data privacy, pricing, competition, taxation, travel distribution, short-term rentals and consumer protection are increasingly intersecting with how our companies innovate, compete, and grow. These debates are taking place not just in Washington, but across dozens of states, often with different approaches and potentially significant business and compliance consequences. Those are precisely the issues Travel Tech helps its members to understand and navigate.

Join Dave Barmore, Travel Tech’s Head of State Policy, and me for our 2026 Election Results: What They Mean for Your Business webinar on Thursday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. ET. We’ll break down the federal and state election results, explain what they mean for travel tech companies, and answer your questions.

And if you are a travel technology company that is not yet part of Travel Tech, now is the time to get plugged in. Our new Growth Membership was built for scaling companies that need to understand what is coming, how it could affect their business, and where their voice needs to be heard. It provides access to ongoing policy intelligence, monthly calls, and a community of industry leaders helping shape the future of travel technology.

Elections change who makes policy. Travel Tech helps our members understand what those changes could mean for their businesses and gives our industry a voice in shaping the policies that follow.
