Travel Tech Applauds Governor Polis’s Veto of Colorado Price Surveillance Legislation

Tuesday, June 2, 2026 — The Travel Technology Association (Travel Tech), the unified voice of the travel technology industry, today applauded Colorado Governor Jared Polis for vetoing HB 26-1210, legislation that would have broadly restricted the use of pricing technologies and risked undermining lawful discounts, loyalty programs, and other consumer-beneficial tools used throughout the travel industry.

In his veto letter, Governor Polis expressed concern that the legislation’s broad definitions and low liability threshold would unintentionally capture “innocuous uses of technology” that benefit consumers, including discounts and loyalty programs designed to help Coloradans save money.

“Travel Tech applauds Governor Polis for recognizing that HB 26-1210 took an overly broad approach that risked discouraging lawful, consumer-beneficial uses of technology, including discounts and loyalty programs that help travelers save money,” said Laura Chadwick, President & CEO of Travel Tech. “We appreciate the Governor’s thoughtful veto message and his recognition that policymakers should focus on targeting genuinely harmful conduct without undermining innovation or limiting opportunities for consumers to save money.”

Travel Tech previously submitted a veto request letter to Governor Polis highlighting concerns that the bill could negatively impact common travel industry practices, including loyalty pricing, app-based discounts, location-based promotions, and other tools that help consumers compare options and access more affordable travel.

Governor Polis echoed many of these concerns in his veto letter, noting that the bill’s broad framework could discourage “perfectly acceptable uses of technology” and reduce opportunities for consumers to save money through discounts and loyalty programs.

Travel Tech supports efforts to address genuinely deceptive or harmful practices, while ensuring that policymakers preserve innovation, competition, and lawful consumer discounts that benefit travelers.
